Our Training Team
Our culturally-responsive training facilitators are skilled in providing a wide-range of workshops for high-school & post-secondary students, professionals within the field of social services & education and community orientated business owners.
Representing a variety of professional backgrounds, our facilitators have specialized training and experience in areas such as African-centred Leadership, Rites of Passage, Restorative Justice, Conflict Mediation and more.
As a company that values lived experience, our facilitators are actively engaged within the social service sector and are often involved in community events and advocacy work. They often draw on first-hand experience to inform workshop development which helps to ensure our curriculum is up to date to ensure facilitators do not become "out of touch" with critical issues, research trends and the ever-changing needs within our communities.
OUR APPROACH - WAWA ABA
MANDATE:
We are dedicated to providing culturally responsive services for organizations, educators, businesses and entrepreneurs. We strive to utilize a strength-based, collective approach to engage with our clientele and community members.
Our approach is inspired by the symbolism of Wawa Aba* as we are reminded of self-determination, collective strength and the positive impact we can have if we work collaboratively with one another.
*Wawa Aba (an Adinkra symbol from West Africa) represents the seed of the Wawa tree. It is known for its hardness and represents resiliency, perseverance, and toughness.
PURPOSE:
We work with organizations that are Black focused, Black-led and Black serving (B3) as well as BIPOC and grassroots initiatives to provide culturally responsive supports that utilize the internal strength of organizations to build stronger communities.
We work with educators that are dedicated to providing meaningful, safe and inclusive spaces for students. We provide interactive training, workshops and presentations that create spaces for sharing knowledge, engagement strategies and tangible resource development.
We work with businesses & entrepreneurs that are community-grounded and passionate about having their business connect with the demographic they serve in meaningful ways. We provide culturally engaging administrative & design support to increase internal strength, secure resources and presence.
